Borrowing items, equipment, media, and booking study rooms are all part of circulation services in the Ray W. Howard library.

Media Watching Stations

DVD, Blue Ray, and VHS

We have 2 stations where you can watch films in the library. These are intended for films on reserve that can only be checked out for a few hours at a time. The media watching station is in the back of the stacks near the periodicals. Ask a library staff member if you need help!

Don't Forget

The study rooms also have DVD and VHS players and are available to groups of two or more students. Book a study room online.

Projectors

This portable presentation combo (LCD projector/laptop) is for classroom use on Shoreline campus only. It cannot be taken off campus for personal use. Projectors are available for checkout by ALL currently enrolled Shoreline Community College students with valid SCC photo ID, or appropriate proof of enrollment. Equipment can be checked out for up to four (4) hours, but must be returned on the SAME DAY it is checked out. A penalty of $75 per day will be charged for every day this equipment is returned late. Borrowers are responsible for checking the condition of the equipment at time of transaction. Any problem must be noted on the checkout form. In case of damage or loss, borrower will be held responsible for reasonable repair or replacement cost of equipment. Equipment is available on a first come first served basis. Reservation can be made one week in advance. A brief training session lasting approximately five minutes must be completed before anyone can be authorized to check out this equipment. This can be done at check out. Faculty/staff checkouts are available for extended periods (up to one week) as long as the equipment is being used for College related events and not personal use. All media equipment is owned and maintained by Shoreline Community College are intended solely for the educational use of Shoreline Community College students, staff and faculty. Shoreline Community College is not responsible for any injury and/or damage caused by the improper or unintended use of its media equipment.

Video production equipment

  • Camcorders, tripods and video lighting kits are available for check-out to currently enrolled Shoreline Community College students and faculty. Students in television production classes will be given higher priority. Reservation can be made at Media Center main desk with staff assistance.
  • A check-out form including the borrower’s name, address, phone number and other relevant information must be completed by each borrower.
  • Check-out period is limited to one day, or 24 hours (i.e., equipment checked out on Monday must be returned by same time on Tuesday), except Friday check-outs, which may be returned the following Monday morning before 10:00 a.m.
  • A penalty of $5 per item per day is charged for a camcorder, tripod or lighting kit if returned late.
  • Borrowers are responsible for checking the condition of the equipment at time of transaction. Any problem must be noted on the check-out form.
  • In case of loss or damage, borrower can be held responsible for reasonable repair or replacement cost of equipment.
  • Multiple reservations are generally not allowed. Exceptions can be made for special cases. Multiple reservations must be made with the help of media staff.
  • All media equipment owned and maintained by Shoreline Community College is intended solely for the educational use of Shoreline Community College students, staff and faculty. Personal and commercial uses are strictly prohibited.
  • Shoreline Community College is not responsible for any injury and/or damage caused by improper or unintended use of its media equipment.
