Digitization Projects to Date

Digital Preservation at Shoreline Community College

"There are a range of risks involved in managing digital content, including technical malfunctions, media obsolescence, and organizational failures—just to name a few.[4] In light of such threats, digital preservation involves the maintenance of digital objects to ensure their authenticity, accuracy, and usability over time. It also requires taking into consideration information security, privacy, and compliance policies."  (Rieger, July 2022)

According to the Digital Preservation Services Collaborative "digital preservation is essential to the cumulative record of human activity and memory." At Shoreline Community College Library we believe digital preservation is a valuable way to help our students advocate for themselves, to highlight the quality of education here at Shoreline Community College, and to keep a record of our rich community history. Our goal is to gather, save, and keep accessible the content created by and for the SCC community. This content can be born digital or made digital through digitization. Special priority is given to raising up the voices of the underserved and historically underrepresented members of said community.
