Washington State

Washington State Newspapers

The city of Seattle has a much different political climate than the rest of the state. When researching a state issue, it can be important to be aware that some of the more rural parts of the state tend to be much more conservative. This list will have every newspaper in Washington State and is helpful for finding a more balanced perspective.

Current Affairs

Currency and News

The best use of newspapers is to research something where currency is relevant. Currency in this case means that the time period is important to your topic. It could mean that you want your research to be as recent as possible as is the case with most science, health, or computer science based research, but it could mean that you want to limit your search to a time period from the past.

Examples of Research Topics

Here are some examples of topics where currency is important:

  • Do women of the 1970's vote more than women of the current time?
  • What did people do for fun in the United States during World War II?
  • When abortion was legalized in 1973, what birth control methods were available?
