What is Sustainability?

What is Sustainability?
It is challenging to define sustainability because it is a topic that encompasses so many fields of study such as agriculture, education, social justice, politics, climate change and economics to name just a few. This definition from the Report from the World Commission on Environment and Development from 1987 still holds true today, "sustainable development seeks to meet the needs and aspirations of the present without compromising the ability to meet those of the future" (para 27).
