The NAACP was founded in 1909, and is perhaps the oldest civil rights organization in the United States. Their mission is to "ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination."

Founded in 2012, "Black Lives Matter is a chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life. We are working to (re)build the Black liberation movement...Rooted in the experiences of Black people in this country who actively resist our dehumanization, #BlackLivesMatter is a call to action and a response to the virulent anti-Black racism that permeates our society..."

The nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization, CAIR aims to "enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding."

Learning Guide focusing on primary sources on Native American History from the University of Washington

Established in 2006 and created by Debbie Reese while she was an Assistant Professor at UIUC, American Indians in Children's Literature is a blog that aims to provide "critical perspectives and analysis of indigenous peoples in children's and young adult books, the school curriculum, popular culture, and society."

Founded in 1972, El Centro de la Raza is " an organization grounded in the Latino community, our mission is to build unity across all racial and economic sectors, to organize, empower, and defend our most vulnerable and marginalized populations and to bring justice, dignity, equality, and freedom to all the peoples of the world."

Got Green is a Seattle based environmental justice group that organizes for environmental, racial, and economic justice led by people of color and low income people. Their vision is to create healthy communities in which "people of color and low income families are exercising self-determination to create and govern resilient and healthy communities where they live, work, learn, play, and pray."

"The Commission serves as the official state representative of the African American community—advising the Governor, Legislature and state agencies regarding policy development and implementation. The commission also works to establish relationships with local governments and private sector organizations that promote equal opportunity for African-Americans."
